My College Graduation

This is one of my graduation photos… yes, I know I look very serious in it. I probably had a lot on my mind. Here is the original page of the College’s Gallery. Interestingly enough, I found what happened to a couple of graduates from 1989:

Moscow College of Music; Class of 1989
Michael Zukernik (second row, second from the left) - a very good percussionist. Now I understand he is Artistic Director: Philharmonisches Kammerorchester Berlin. I remember he was totally unsatisfied with my playing of Bach’s “Air”, D-dur, BWV 1068, “the speed, it is too fast…”, he said to me, and also probably the fact that I was playing it on the trombone, or maybe he just did not like me very much. I never took time to speak to him unfortunately. Soon after our graduation I heard he immigrated to Israel, while I continued in my efforts to improve and went to the Moscow Conservatory. We never spoke or met again.
Oleg Panin (third row, first on the right) - a gentle giant, very kind, softly spoken man and excellent oboist. He is now Principal Oboe with the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra. I remember he was always worried about his reeds… I had the pleasure of hearing him when the orchestra came on tour to Australia, and I can state unequivocally that his reeds were in excellent form, as was his playing. Great musician!
Lastly, is yours truly (second row, third from the right). Rather than telling you what happened to me, I will tell you that I will always treasure every memory I have of studying and living there.

Wow! Great photo. Definitely the cutest guy in the shot. Why doesn’t that surprise me??
Ok seriously, do you know how many of those teachers are still there by any chance? Also, what sort of background are the teachers from? Any interesting info about their lives??
